1. Have you learned more than you had expected in this
course?
Yes. Although I wasn’t very surprised by the official
material covered in the course, I loved learning slang, expressions, and words that
are used in Spain but aren’t typically covered in a classroom setting.
2. Did you prepare effectively for class (completed the
Connect assignments, read the lesson contents before class, go to office
hours)?
For the most part, I did. I had trouble remembering to do the
Accion assignments, I will admit.
3. How did you find the exams (e.g. challenging, interesting,
fair, etc.)?
I thought the exams were fair. Some were not as challenging
as others, but it was a fair assessment of one’s knowledge of the course
material.
4. How did you find the compositions (e.g. challenging,
useful, relevant, etc.)? \
The compositions were neither here nor there.
5. Did the “connect” assignments really help you?
The connect assignments were helpful in that they made it easier
to learn the vocabulary; however some assignments regarding grammar and
structure were just repetitive and unhelpful.
6. Based on your
performance throughout the semester and on everything that you have experienced
in this course (e.g. in-class activities, homework, etc.), how much has your
Spanish improved? How could you have improved more (think about what you could
have done to do better)?
I am somewhat familiar with many of the topics we covered in
this course, but the real benefit for me was speaking every day in Spanish and
listening to others do the same. In my prior Spanish classes in high school, we
never spoke Spanish for the entire class. I could have improved more if I
memorized the vocabulary faster.
